Leisa has been a body therapist for over a decade, in private practice (first London then Stroud), both on-site, and as a mobile therapist.
Her approach is holistic, as she believes much illness is body-mind connected, so life style, life experience and life approach are important factors in developing wellness (though of course some physical ailments are of a repetitive, postural or injurious nature).
In her own life practice, Leisa enjoys djembe drumming, qi gong and five rhythms dance. She is also a student of Shamanism.
Leisa incorporates her own qi gong and yoga practice into her work by giving stretching exercises to take away and points which are uniquely tailored for the client.
Acupressure massage, otherwise known as Shiatsu, is her primary method of working. This is a Japanese form of massage performed with the person fully clothed and lying on a futon. It is a complete therapy in itself informed by Chinese diagnosis and Chinese medicine, and works on the same technical model as acupuncture. Acupressure Massage however focuses more on the lines of energy (meridians) running between acupuncture points than on the points themselves.
Leisa qualified in Shiatsu from both the British School of Shiatsu and the Kikai School of Shiatsu in 2005. She is also qualified in deep tissue and sports massage therapy and can integrate this knowledge in her practice.
